Web Design I

(1.5 CEU)

Information, commerce, humor, and style converge on the digital landscape and it is the designer's responsibility to create the experience. From bits of data and pixels, making meaning online requires an understanding of how to design for technology and constraints, expectations and possibilities.

Learn how to design ideas on the Web. This includes mastering Web techniques in Photoshop, but most importantly, it is learning the skills necessary to understand the general effects and complications of communicating digitally. Our lessons are in visual design, information design, graphic production, color theory, typography, the production process, and strategies for getting the work you want.

In this class you will have the option to work with a real client web site to design.

Who should take this class:

Artists and designers transitioning from other mediums, as well as others who want to learn how to communicate through design on the Web.

Web Design II

(1.5 CEU)

Web site development is a matrix of content, design, and business strategy intertwined around technology. This course covers a comprehensive overview of the design process and methodologies from a production perspective for the creation of a coherent Web presence. As a continuation of Web Design I, students will apply real world production process of Web site design, with an emphasis on developing the workflow, applying risk management strategies, and conducting usability testing on their projects.

In this class you will have the option to produce a real client web site based on the designs in the Web Design 1 class.

Artists and designers transitioning from other mediums, as well as others who want to learn how to communicate through design on the Web.
